Honour is to obey, to reverence, to speak kindly; to speak and think well of.
To curse is to disobey, to treat with irreverence, to speak ill of, to think evil of in the heart; to meditate or do any evil to a person, or to your own parents.
A person living in self is always independent. They will be continuing to defend themselves. They will be in a self righteous independent attitude (satan's independent nature), alienating themselves from the body of Christ, and will be disobedient to what the word of God teaches.
Children
The word of God teaches in Ephesians 6:1,2a Children, obey your parents in the
Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother
Husbands
Ephesians 5:33a (amplified) How ever let each man of you without exception love
his wife as (being in a sense) his very own self.
Wives
Ephesians 5:33b (amplified) And let the wife see that she respects and reverences
her husband, that she notices him; regards him; honours him; prefers him;
respects his character; esteems him, and that she defers to him; praises him and
loves him, and admires him exceedingly
God
Ezekiel 33:31-32 And they come unto Thee as the people cometh, and they sit before
thee as My people, and they hear Thy words, but they will not do them: for with
their mouth they show much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.
And, lo, Thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant
voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear Thy words, but they
do them not.
Titus 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny Him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
Christ
John 5:23a That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father.
The Word
Job 23:12 (amplified) I have not gone back from the commandment of His lips; I have
esteemed, and treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.
Pastor Teacher
1 Timothy 5:17 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour,
especially they who labor in word and doctrine.
One that honours God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit will have these three characteristics:
humility
happiness
holiness
One that will not honour God's word will have these three characteristics:
pride
rebellion
rejection
Honour puts on mercy, meekness, the mind of Christ; always abounding in grace, and walking in love thinking no evil.
