The Road of Deterioration?
Pastor's
Thoughts

Romans 12:6-17 "Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; or he that exorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that showeth mercy, with cheerfulness.
Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.
Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men."
Honour is an attitude of mind, heart and soul. It means: to fix a value upon, to esteem, to estimate as most precious, hold very dear to one.
1. When honour is absent from a believer's life, pride is the master that leads them into deterioration at home, at the work place, in church, and in marriage.
2. If a young person will not honour the authority that is over him or her, deterioration will set in, and ruin will be the end result.
3. When a person will not honour authority that is over them, they are proud and arrogant. They will not receive instruction nor correction, because they are on the road of deterioration.
4. When a student will not honour their teacher, deterioration sets in, causing rebellion and stubbornness. The student speaks words that cut down the teacher's authority. School becomes hard, and quitting is the easy way out.
5. If an employee will not honour the boss, deterioration sets in the form of a work slowdown, or absence from work, poor performance, and talking behind the bosses back with negative words.
6. If a son or daughter will not honour the parents, deterioration sets in the form of arguing, trying to set parent against parent. Their room becomes a pig pen. Rebellion against other siblings, the dress code, the hair styles, the jewelry they wear, and music they listen to.
7. When any one of any age will not honour the pastor/teacher, deterioration sets in the form of gossip. Their ears have turned to stone. They stop gong to church or worse. Sin has now become a little thing in their life. They don't hear the still small voice of God saying, "Danger - hell is just ahead".
1 Timothy 5:17 "Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they whom labor in word and doctrine."
True honour is a characteristic of a Christian who is responsible. They are respectful to authority. They know how to walk in their position as a child of God. Their thoughts are always how they can help the pastor/teacher and the Church they go to. They are humble, receiving the word of God in faith. They are willing to learn truth. They develop a sensitivity for hearing the word, and honoring what they hear.
They love and respect with honour God Almighty, their family, their marriage, and the local pastor/teacher. They are blessed because they have learned that honour leads to great wisdom with a life full of grace and truth. They are overcomers by the blood of Christ Jesus, and the cross is their frame of reference.
