Familiarity
SonLightPastor's Thoughts for April 2003
from the desk of Pastor Curt McComis

Ephesians 6:10-18 "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints"

Many Christians after awhile put on familiarity each day as they say "I know that I have had my spiritual armor on these last twenty years. My walk with God is in tip top shape", but in reality they have not as much zeal, not as much hope, not as much faith, and their patience has worn thin as they put up a front saying "Things are just fine".

The battle is fierce to take one out of God's plan, and render them useless.

They now live with one foot in disobedience, and the other foot in the world. Their prayer life is zero. Their compassion for things of God is non existent because of a lying spirit. They walk outside of all of God's promises, thinking they are walking with God.

Satan has blinded their spiritual minds, and they live in unbelief operating in the flesh without any discernment of what is holy, and acceptable to God. Their hearts become hard, and their ears are dull of hearing. Their spirit is grieved day unto day as they enter into carnality which God is not pleased with.

They now stay home at church time entertaining fleshly thoughts. They no longer care for the body of Christ, the Church, all because they became familiar with the word of God, and the message to put on the new man, and take up your cross daily, and follow Jesus.

They are now empty vessels being filled by another kingdom. They need a spiritual turn around into the loving hands of Christ Jesus.

Familiarity is just one of satan's many demons working to destroy our Christianity. Be aware, satan is a roaring lion wanting to destroy us.
1 Peter 5:8 "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour"

When we live in Matthew 4:4 continually this will help us in the battle that is always raging daily. Keep looking unto the author and finisher of our faith Christ Jesus Hebrews 12:2. Be teachable, and a good hearer that keeps coming to Jesus.
Matthew 11:28 "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
