Daily Devotional for December 4

John 12:24 "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit."

Have you truly died to self so that nothing offends you?

Psalm 119:165 "Great peace have they which love Thy law: and nothing shall offend them."

The Christian that gets easily offended lives in a pride complex, mixed with the feeling of being inferior; so that doctrine has no place within their soul and spirit.

They go years living in their pre-salvation, liking some messages they hear on Sunday morning, but hating other messages. Therefore, they blame the messenger for their problems. All the time, God is trying to get them to die to self so their vessel can be broken and the treasure that is inside can be poured out upon lost souls.

Paul said, "I die daily" in 1 Corinthians 15:31b. Are we so totally dependent upon the Lord daily, that no matter what happens we give Him all the praise and honour due Him?

If we are dead to self, then we are not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for we will share it with others in some way. Death brings forth life. Life brings forth love. Love brings forth grace. Grace brings forth mercy. Mercy brings forth forgiveness. Forgiveness brings forth the finished work. The finished work brings forth the resurrection power that is in our Lord Jesus Christ.

The result will be a Christian that is complete in Him as we walk in the Spirit.
