Daily Devotional for December 12

Hebrews 4:2 "For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it."

The world doesn't want to hear the gospel today, for it tells them that they are sinners. The world likes to say, "We can do it without Christ Jesus" and "We can solve all the problems of mankind by human reasoning". The world likes to build buildings of great stature, but the fact of the matter is; mankind still lives within these buildings unsaved and on their way to a godless eternity.

The gospel teaches us how to live by faith in Christ Jesus.

Galatians 2:16 "Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified."

Mankind wants to be justified by works. They will find out one day that works in the flesh profit nothing in the kingdom of God.

When the gospel is being preached, other religions hate the gospel; because the gospel of Christ Jesus has the cross in it, while in other religions their tombs are still full of dead men's bones.

Faith in Christ Jesus leads to eternity in heaven. This is what the gospel is all about: the life and death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
