Behold what manner of love
Daily Devotional for December 13

1 John 3:1 "Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew Him not."

Divine love goes far beyond human love, for human love is self-centered, only responding to what makes it happy. Human love has it's limitations: when self is satisfied, then it returns love to the other party; until it doesn't get what it wants.

Marriages fall apart after twenty to thirty years because human love didn't get what it wanted.

Human love is never unconditional, because it is controlled by the flesh that will profit you nothing.

Satan loves people to love with human love, for he knows that if you can keep the flesh in human love, you can keep the flesh in human reasoning. Human reasoning finds itself thinking that salvation in Christ Jesus is foolishness. Human reasoning says the cross is not needed to get to heaven, for many roads lead there.

The word of God replaces human reasoning with fact.

John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me."

When Jesus rose from the dead, He proved that He is the absolute only way to heaven. Divine love is now inside all born-again believers. Love that forgives totally.
