Trials and temptation
SonLight Daily DevotionalDaily Devotional for December 30
from the desk of Pastor Curt McComis

1 Corinthians 10:13 "There hath no temptation taken you but such is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that you are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it."

Have you ever said, "These temptations are too much for me", "I don't have the patience to go through this trial", or "I am a good Christian, why are these things so hard?" and "Is God picking on me?"

Job said in Job 13:15 "Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him".

Trials can either teach us to trust in Him or doubt.

The believer's life becomes sweeter and sweeter as they learn to trust in Him completely. They will grow in grace in trials, so they can minister to others while others go through trials. Sad to say, the believer that doubts withdraws into their self, causing them to hurt. They start living in defeat as they listen to falsehoods in the atmosphere produced by the devil.

Trials are to prove whether we are in the faith. They are not to wound us and cause us to lose heart, but to bring us in to Christ, where safety is.

God is able to keep us in all the trials, for they are not something unexpected to Him. Treat a trial as an opportunity to draw closer to the One that loves you.

Jesus said He will never leave us nor forsake us.

That's His promise today.
