The Natural Man
Daily Devotional for February 10

1 Corinthians 2:14 "But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."

The natural man loves the things of this world. They have a mental attitude that they have to keep up with the Jones. New house, new car, new computer. Too busy to go to church. They have to work long hours to pay for all the things they have. They are never satisfied with temporal things, because the more things they have, the more they break down. This crowd thinks nothing of going out to supper and spending 50 to 100 dollars. They give freely to save the whales or the wolf. Their attitude towards the unborn baby is negative. They make good volunteers because of their self-righteous attitudes.

The natural man thinks preaching the Word of God to be foolishness. They think, because their mind is blinded by the devil, giving to the church is stupid. They say, "All the church wants is to get rich". This is the sad story of too many people in this country today. This is a portrait of the natural man or woman unsaved. This portrait may be you! Until you ask Christ Jesus to become your personal Saviour, you, if you ever read this portrait of the natural man will be very upset. Truly a portrait can tell the story of one's life. It will read natural, or born-again in Christ Jesus.
