What are your desires?
Daily Devotional for February 29

Psalm 37:4 "Delight thyself also in the Lord; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart."

Our Lord did not say for us to delight ourselves in the stock market, nor did He say to delight ourselves in a job. The Lord did not say for us to delight ourselves in the environment, nor did He say to delight ourselves in a fancy yacht. Mankind has many different kinds of pleasure that take up all their spare time. Mankind enjoys these pleasures to their fullest, thinking they have the desires of their heart.

The first time you lose money in the stock market you have lost a lot of your desires. The second you hear your employer say, "Start looking for other employment", your desire vanishes from your being. The first storm you go into while on your new yacht; your desires are no longer in the yacht, but in how to get to port safely.

Delight thyself in the Lord first, and second, and third. Then, when trouble comes you have a sweet resting place. The Lord is not upset if you are blessed with material things. He is sad when you make material things your god. When mankind is caught up in materialism they are not interested in the things of the Lord. They leave out the most important things such as prayer, reading the word of God, and going to Church every Sunday. They don't share the love of God with their children because they only share what's important to them. Making money is the desire they pass on to their loved ones.

It is much better when we pass on the love of the Lord to our children. That will last forever.
