When Trouble Comes
Daily Devotional for January 28

John 14:1 "Let not your heart be troubled: you believe in God, believe also in me."

There can be many reasons one may have a troubled heart. Someone may have just returned from the doctor with bad news. Someone else may have a wayward teenager. A bad marriage is trouble on every side. Loss of employment is a cause for trouble. We never know what a day may bring. A car accident causes all kinds of trouble.

Jesus said, "Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid" in John 14:27b. Jesus is asking us to cast all our cares upon him. It rains on the just and unjust, but we have a peace that will never leave us nor forsake us.

Troubles will reveal how much faith we have put in Christ Jesus. Some times when trouble comes people blame God. They stop going to church where the body of Christ can minister to them. The next thing you know they have walked away from love, and enter into the kingdom of hating God. Satan hates God and His people. Jesus wants us to draw near when trouble comes so that we can be comforted.

If you have many troubles, please cast them upon Him with trust.

Psalm 91:15b "I will be with him in trouble: I will deliver him, and honour him."
