God resists the Proud
Pastor's
Thoughts for January 2005

Pride has many faces of evil. It is like a chameleon. It changes to fit the situation. Pride will not admit who it is. It just lies to what it is not. Pride lives in all kinds of fantasies as it weaves its web of deceit.
Most Christians haven't a clue that pride is what drives them into defeat. They think because they say they are Christians that pride does not exist. Pride has many forms; all of them lead the Christian away from the death of the cross. They will never be totally dependent on Christ Jesus, because self reliance is still much alive in their lives. Years can go by, and there is no spiritual growth; only a steady moving away from all that is Holy and good. Pride has the forces of evil behind it. Demons can live in all kinds of prideful situations. Christians that have never dealt with the pride in their lives will stay in the world and be tossed to and fro. If pride is never dealt with ruins will be the end result.
Pride has it's roots in the kingdom of darkness. That is why it is so hard to recognize. Pride is the one that says to others; "Live unmarried". It may also say that church is that place that your unloving parents took you to on Sundays. Pride also may say that you should look down on your parents, because they don't live up to what a Christian should be.
Pride is very clever at not showing its hand. Pride knows that, "I will, I will" is its strength. It whispers in ones ears to be busy on Sundays, and to be so busy with pleasures that you have no time to hear the still small voice of Christ Jesus calling you to come. Pride will give you all the worldly things you want, so that you run to it. The wall of pride will keep you from a mighty, loving God.
Pride works hard to please Satan's kingdom. It says to have a form of godliness, but deny the power thereof. Years have gone by and pride has worked well for the devil. He masters its victims into the fires of hell.
All the time pride is saying, "I am not so bad". Pride is always void of unconditional love. Pride will always love as long as it gets its own way.
Jesus died upon the Cross for the sins of the world. Pride is one of the sins that must go to hell, so that the believer will be able to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour.
