Happiness
Daily Devotional for July 31

Psalm 23:6 "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever."

King David loved the Lord, as he wrote many of the psalms. These psalms were all put to music. King David had a melody within his heart.

Ephesians 5:18-19 "And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, and making melody in your heart to the Lord"

We hope and pray that you may also have a melody in your heart. The heart that is full with the love of the Lord is a heart that will be singing praises unto the King of Kings.

Many a person has looked for this kind of happiness. They look for it in a person and for awhile it lasts; but it grows cold over the years. They may look for it in finances, gathering great wealth; but wealth can't help you on your deathbed. A person may look for it in serving others, only to grow tired of doing the same old thing.

Happiness is found when we look unto the Author and Finisher of our faith, Christ Jesus our Lord. He never changes, nor leaves us; but He teaches us to grow in the unlimited word of grace.

The happiest day of my life is today, for I asked Christ Jesus into my heart many years ago. Now each day of my life is the happiest day as I spend time with Him, abiding in His word, fellowshipping at His cross.
