Who is your Shepherd?
Daily Devotional for June 2

Psalm 23:1 "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want."

Mankind rich or poor lives in the spirit of want. They go about, seeking things to fill their wanting spirit. Mankind is so wanting without Christ Jesus as it's Personal Saviour. They try music to fill their souls. They try science to fill their souls. They try education to fill their souls. They try religion to fill their souls. They try sex, drugs and booze to fill their souls.

As a river flows into the ocean and the ocean is not full; a man that has a wanting spirit is never satisfied. Proverbs 27:20 says, "Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied".

Man living in his unsaved state will live his whole life in vanity. Vanity is emptiness of the soul. He may reach his goals only to find no satisfaction after awhile. He will go seeking still other things to fill the void of his soul.

Philippians 4:11 "Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content."

The Christian will live a very contented life when he or she is filled with the Holy Spirit. They will have a daily intake of categorical doctrine, learning line upon line; precept upon precept. Their minds will be full of words of life. Their tongues will speak words of edification. Their love will be unconditional. They will live by faith in Christ Jesus. They will rise up in the morning with a melody in their hearts. Contentment is a way of life, for they found out the Lord is truly their personal Shepherd. Saved and filled with the Holy Spirit's love.

Romans 5:5 "And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit which is given unto us"
