The Lord shut the door
Pastor's
Thoughts for March 2006
![]()
Noah built the Ark for 120 years. Noah preached righteousness for 120 years. Noah took only his wife, children, and their wives into the Ark. No other relatives went into the Ark. No rain had ever fallen before; man's heart was only on evil all day long. They were given in marriage in those 120 years.
One day God shut them in. He alone closed the door of the Ark on mankind. He alone kept the door from leaking water, and the Ark afloat.
In Christ Jesus alone is there safety from the evil of the day. He is the door John 10:9. He is the only way mankind can be saved. He is the ark that carries us to safety during all the storms of life.
Noah and his family rode in safety those 40 days and 40 nights. They landed on dry ground safely many days later. How it must have seemed to all the unbelievers as they watched Noah build the Ark. They never saw rain until the day God shut the door to the Ark.
God never shuts the door to believers, because His Son is always standing knocking, saying, "May I come in" Revelation 3:20.
For 120 Years Noah preached, and God was knocking at mankind's heart; "Turn away from your evil ways". Mankind heard not, for they were too busy with worldly ways. Today our Lord is still knocking; "Come unto Me". The door is closer than ever of being shut.
What did the people think when they saw the door shut on the Ark without human hands? At the same time, they heard the first crack of thunder; and felt the first drops of rain upon their faces. Maybe they were just like those of today. Just too busy to hear the sounds of the times; "Repent from your sins, and come unto Me".
I wonder just how close is the door to mankind of being shut. Christ Jesus died for the sins of this world, opening up the door to whosoever will come. This time the door will stay open until it's time for His return.
Come to the door of pardon for it is open; for it is not as in the time of Noah, the door of judgment.
Time may be short. Please come while the Door that leads to life is still open, to receive mercy and grace in time of need. Christ Jesus has forgiven you all. Believe on the Lord Jesus and be saved.
John 10:9 "I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture."
Revelation 3:20 "Behold I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me."
