The Goodness of God
Pastor's
Thoughts for March 2003
![]()
The riches of His goodness we will find when we are full of the Holy Spirit.
Ephesians 5:18 "And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit"
This richness with the covenant of grace and mercy is given to us daily. Our Lord gives us all riches in an abundance as we need them in our day to day life. The greater the need, the more we experience the goodness of God as the Word of Christ dwells in us richly.
Our Lord has said we may come and drink freely the water of life
Revelation 22:17 "And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely."
The Spirit is always saying, "Come, drink freely of the Lord's goodness at the throne of grace".
Hebrews 4:16 "Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."
Come, trust and receive the needed wisdom we need because His love never fails
1 Corinthians 13:8a "Love never faileth"
Sing with hope! Talk with a glad heart, for we can count on the goodness of God to triumph. Let love be our covering as we walk through life, casting all of our anxiety upon the Lord.
We are all learning to be content, as the Lord reveals His goodness in all situations, as we keep our eyes upon Him. Our hearts from time to time may be heavy laden; but we have learned to trust the Lord completely, because in the past He has shown His goodness and in the future He will do the same. We are continually living in a state of divine expectation of "Something good is going to happen this very day".
Philippians 4:8 is our mind's resting place.
"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever
things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are lovely,
whatsoever things are of good report: if there be any virtue, and if there be
any praise, think on these things."
The goodness of God will always refresh our spirit and soul when our thinking is right and our eyes upon the Cross of Christ Jesus.
