Are we still spitting on Jesus Christ today?
SonLightPastor's Thoughts for May 2001
from the desk of Pastor Curt McComis

Matthew 27:29-30 "And when they had plaited a crown of thorns, they put it upon His head, and a reed in His right hand: and they bowed the knee before Him, and mocked Him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews! And they spit upon Him, and took the reed, and smote Him on the head."

No one likes to be spit upon, yet the human nature is sick enough to do just that: by it's unbelief, by it's proud attitude of saying there are many gods and many roads to heaven, by its human goodness that needs no changing, by it's educational efforts, by it's music, by it's movies, by it's drugs, by its actions of witchcraft, and by its lack of respect of marriage.

When we are filled and controlled by the Holy Spirit, our lips are full of praise and honour for our Lord and Saviour Christ Jesus.

When we love God; sweetness, kindness, love, hope, grace, forgiveness, and purity proceed from our lips. The old gentle cross is music to our soul and spirit as we speak in grace to the hearers; grace that always brings comfort and peace to the hearts of the listeners.

Just where are we at? Are we still a spitter, or a lover of God's holy word?

Bible References (KJV)

Matthew 4:4 "But He answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."

Ephesians 5:22-33 "Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it: that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, that He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing: but that it should be holy and without blemish.
So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: for we are members of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones.
For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband."

Hebrews 13:4 "Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge."

1 Corinthians 7:5 "Defraud not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency."
