Do we lay our lives down?
SonLight Daily Devotional
Daily Devotional for November 1
from the desk of Pastor Curt McComis

1 John 3:16 "Hereby perceive we the love of God, because He laid down His life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren."

Christ laid His life down for us so that we could have fellowship with God, forgiveness of our sins, and peace that passes all understanding.

We are to love one another, without doubt in our hearts, because doubt causes distrust in all relationships. If we see a brother or sister in Christ stumble, we are not to kick them while they are down. We are there to give them a helping hand in a troubled time.

We are all growing in grace and knowledge of Christ Jesus, and need to learn not to be judge and jury; because none of us knows the end of what one's life might be.

Love could be laying our life down for a brother or sister that may have wronged us because of their lack of maturity in their life. Love always has a positive attitude towards all others, thinking no evil.

Love remembers our sins no more, because the blood of Christ is covering them all.

Love's capacity is without end, going farther than human love which is conditional.

Are we this type of Christian, laying our lives down, or do we still have too much flesh in the way?

Love always finds a way.
