Lovers of their own selves
Daily Devotional for November 25

2 Timothy 3:1 "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come."

2 Timothy 3:2 "For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy"

Today many people live in self occupation; in love with themselves. They seek only pleasure for themselves. They are so occupied with self that they are unable to love another. Their life is made up of what "I" am going to do today that makes me, myself and I happy. They live totally in self-absorption, thinking about what people may be saying about them. Their communication with others is "How am I doing", and "Are you pleased with my appearance". Their whole life is dictated by their feelings and emotions.

As long as they are getting their way and being praised by the surrounding people they are quite happy; but let one word of truth come to their ears about themselves, and a battle royal will occur.

The people that are lovers of their own selves have no room for God's love nor for God's words. The people that are lovers of their own selves are seeking pleasure on Sunday mornings, not willing to die to self and come to Church; for they say, "Only hypocrites go to Church".

Most likely a person that is a lover of their own self will not be reading this Daily Devotional, for the truth would offend them.

John 6:63 "It is the Spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing"
