Are you fearful?
SonLightPastor's Thoughts for November 2001
from the desk of Pastor Curt McComis

1 John 4:18 "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love".

Matthew 8:26 "Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?"

Mark 4:40 "Why are you so fearful? how is it that you have no faith?"

Here are ten thoughts that may help one to recognize the spirit of fear.

There are a couple of other things that may be an interest to you also:
Fearful people's behaviour will change from time to time. In
1 Samuel 21:10-13 we read where David feared Saul and because he was sore afraid he changed his behaviour.

The word of God says:
Isaiah 28:10b "precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little"

2 Timothy 1:7 "For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

We are not to live in fear, because fear has no faith in God, no trust in our Saviour, and no life in the resurrection of Christ Jesus. This is why God says in Revelation 21:8 the very first people that will not enter in to heaven are "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."

Fear has a kingdom behind it. Satan loves people to be fearful, for he knows that fearful people do not look unto Jesus for their strength.

Romans 8:15 "For you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but you have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry Abba, Father."

God is the author of love, so just receive it in all it's fullness. Walk in "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." Phil 4:13

Victory is ours today. Leave all fear at the foot of the cross.

In Christ Jesus,
Love,
Pastor Curt

Bible References (KJV)

1 Samuel 21:10-13 "And David arose, and fled that day for fear of Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath. And the servants of Achish said unto him, Is not this David the king of the land? did they not sing one to another of him in dances, saying, Saul has slain his thousands, and David his then thousands? And David laid up these words in his heart, and was sore afraid of Achish the king of Gath. And he changed his behaviour before them, and feigned himself mad in their hands, and scrabbled on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down upon his beard."
