Daily Devotional for September 2

Hebrews 10:38-39 "Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, My soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul."

Many a man over a period of time draws back, and follows Christ Jesus no more. They leave their call to be a servant of God for service to a job. The job becomes the most important part of their lives. They even forget their marriage; forsaking the marriage for long hours at the office.

Satan loves to get a Christian caught up in the things of this world. He knows when that person is caught up in the world system he can make that person worry about the details of life: food, clothing, money, cars, homes, ect. Matthew 6:25

1. When a believer draws back, they enter in to a negative mood cycle. They start blaming God for problems, just as Adam blamed Eve, and Eve blamed the devil.
Genesis 3:12-13 "And the man said, The woman whom Thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat."

2. When a believer draws back, they no longer have a heart attitude for the lost soul.
Matthew 28:19 "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit"

3. When a believer draws back, they become like a set of windshield wipers; working intermittently. They pray once in a while. They go to Church once in a while.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 "Pray without ceasing."

4. When a believer draws back, their heart becomes full of their own ways and opinions.
Proverbs 21:2 "Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts."

5. When a believer draws back, they grieve the Holy Spirit and quench the Holy Spirit.
Ephesians 4:30 "And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby you are sealed unto the day of redemption."
1 Thessalonians 5:19 "Quench not the Spirit."
